We are a team of Chartered Independent Financial Planners, recognised by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Our Chartered status reflects our commitment to putting clients first, upholding the highest ethical standards, and investing in continuous professional development.Within MKS Financial Planning, the Employee Benefits team is a specialist advisory function, providing holistic pensions and employee benefits advice to corporates, charities and private organisations. We support clients across the full employee benefits landscape, including corporate pension schemes, group risk and healthcare benefits, flexible benefits and wellbeing programmes, governance and compliance frameworks, employee communications, and financial education.
We have a well‑established and respected specialism within the independent schools sector, advising on pension scheme design and sustainability, governance and regulatory requirements, strategic planning, total reward and wellbeing strategies, and tailored healthcare and group risk solutions.
The Senior Employee Benefits Consultant will take ownership of, and grow, a portfolio of corporate clients, including independent schools, delivering strategic, commercially focused employee benefits and pension advice. The role combines technical expertise with strong client leadership, contributing to the ongoing development of our proposition and supporting the growth of the wider Financial Advisory team.
You will build trusted internal and external relationships, lead and inspire colleagues, and champion innovation through the effective use of technology and AI‑enhanced solutions to improve client outcomes and ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Provide strategic advice on corporate pensions, group risk, healthcare and wider benefits.
- Act as lead consultant for a portfolio of complex, high-value clients.
- Deliver proactive, forward-looking recommendations and lead governance cycles, annual reviews and renewals.
- Build strong, long-term relationships through exceptional service.
- Identify opportunities from within the wider Moore Kingston Smith client base.
- Expand presence within the independent schools sector.
- Build and sustain external referral networks and partnerships.
- Lead proposals, tenders and presentations and achieve revenue, growth and retention targets.
- Act as a senior leader within the Employee Benefits team.
- Support, mentor and develop junior colleagues.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance, client‑focused team culture.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Employee Benefits proposition.
- Embrace new technologies and digital tools to enhance client delivery.
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI-driven analytics, automation and workflow tools.
- Improve efficiency, reporting, governance and communication processes.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement across the team.
- Maintain strong technical knowledge of pensions, benefits legislation and market trends.
- Ensure all advice meets FCA requirements and Consumer Duty standards.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation and audit trails.
- Take responsibility for resolving issues and managing risk appropriately.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in corporate employee benefits consulting.
- Strong technical knowledge of corporate pensions and wider benefits.
- Demonstrable business development and client-winning capability.
- Experience advising senior leaders, governors or trustees.
- Proven leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Up‑to‑date understanding of employee benefits and pensions legislation.
- Knowledge of advised vs. non-advised requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and benefits technology platforms.
- Understanding of how technology and AI can improve delivery and operations.
- Commitment to Consumer Duty and treating customers fairly.
- QCF Level 4 (CII) or above.
- Current SPS.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD.
