Description
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our renowned Employment team, in Birmingham!The role
We are looking for an enthusiastic employment law solicitor to join the Employment, Pensions and Immigration National Service line (NSL), based in our Birmingham office.
The work undertaken by our Birmingham team is varied and spans a mix of sectors including health and care clients (both private and NHS); commercial clients (including automotive, manufacturing and retail); and higher education institutions.
The person
You will have at least 4+ years' experience as an employment lawyer, gained in a reputable law firm or through in-house experience.
You will be self-starting, possessing common sense and initiative, and the ability to work as a team-player working on complex matters. You will also have very good time and documentation management skills and have keen attention to detail. You will have experience of managing your own matters on a day-to-day basis and of delegating to junior employment lawyers. You will be able to build very good relationships with clients and have excellent interpersonal and team skills, including the ability to work with others, influence and persuade.
Some previous experience of providing employment law support to clients in regulated sectors is desirable.
The experience
Given the challenges of this role, it is likely that your background and experience will include the following.
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent with A levels or equivalents
- Clear enthusiasm for employment law
- Excellent written English for drafting purposes
- Excellent presentational skills
- Self-starting with common sense and initiative, and ability to work as a team-player working on complex matters
- Very good time and documentation management skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to lead on Employment Tribunal matters and on advisory matters on a day to day basis with appropriate supervision for a lawyer working at a senior associate grade o
- Experience of delegating to junior members of the team
- Ability to build very good relationships with clients, potential clients and multipliers
- Very good research skills, including an ability to use online information sources
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills, including ability to work with others, influence and persuade
- Keen interest in developing client training skills
- High level of IT skills
- Marketing and business development skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience of advising large employers
- Advocacy experience
